Lady Chargers Fall in a Close Contest to Franklin County

Brookville, IN – The North Decatur Lady Chargers basketball team travelled to Franklin County to take on the Wildcats on Thursday looking to get back in the win column.

The Lady Chargers were hungry for a win from the tip and showed it immediately on the defensive end. Only allowing 9 points in the first quarter, but shots weren’t falling on the offensive end despite their efforts on the other end, score after one was in favor of the Lady Wildcats, 9-8.

The Chargers offense then started to click early in the second and throughout the quarter in general. North Decatur outscored Franklin County 12-7 in the second, continuing to lock up on the defensive side of the ball. They took the lead into half by a score of 20-16.

This game was shaping up to be a closely contested one in the second half, and indeed it was. Both offenses started to get into the flow of the game nicely in the third quarter with North Decatur continuing to hold the lead and not give in despite efforts from the Lady Wildcats to claw back in. The Chargers clung onto a 32-28 lead heading into the final quarter.

As pressure from the Wildcats ramped up, the Chargers offense slowed way down, only scoring 9 points, compared to Franklin County’s 15. That run led to a North Decatur loss, their 3rd in a row, final score 43-41.

Despite the heartbreaking loss, North Decatur Senior Madi Allen had a great game, tallying 18 points. The team also shot a very solid 12/15 from the FT line. Kelsey Haley and Carmen Thackery both added 6 points as well. Other stats are below!
