Batesville put in a long night at Madison with only the JV team coming out victorious.
In the Varsity match The Bulldogs just could not put enough offense behind a great defensive effort. Our back court was covering hitters, digging up uncontested swings and making plays of defected balls like their lives depended on it. Jenna Ertel #11 finished with 24 digs on the evening. But our firepower was few and far between. Madison definitely teaches their kids to swing hard.
The JV teams was in a better contested match and found swings from several players with defense to match. Anna Bauer #21 had 9 digs on the night and Kelsey shupe #9 8 kills on 21 swings.
The Freshman team, playing their first match as high schoolers showed their youth. They played good heads up ball but would constantly stray from sound defense and make the errors expect of their age. On the good end they are learning and serving well and will just get better with more games.
Varsity (1-1): Madison wins 12-25, 18-25, 27-25, 11-25.
JV(2-0): Batesville wins 25-22, 25-20.
Freshman(0-1): Madison wins 16-25, 20-25.
All three teams will travel to Connersville on Thursday with a 5:30pm freshman start. All games will be following.
