The Batesville Bulldog Girls track and field team were named Sectional Runner ups last night as they snuck by the Franklin County Wildcats by 5 points placing 2nd with a score of 92 points to Franklin’s 87. Congratulations to the East Central Trojans as they continue to show their dominance scoring an incredible 177 points! Batesville have many athletes advancing to Regional competition next week. To automatically qualify, they would need to place in the top 3 of their event or be one of the next 3 best marks from the feeding Sectionals to fill a field of 16 in each event.
Qualifying by scoring in the top 3 last night were our 2nd place finishers: Liz Loichinger in the 1600m run, Lily Pinckley in the 3200m run, and the 4 x 800m relay of Liz Loichinger, Lily Pinckley, Trysta Vierling and Katie Olsen. Also advancing by placing 3rd were: Carley Pride in the 400m dash, Stephanie Nobbe in the 200m dash, the 4 x 100m relay of Gabby Gibbs, Lily Meyer, Roxie Hund and Stephanie Nobbe and the 4 x 400m relay of Katie Olsen, Liz Loichinger, Stephanie Nobbe and Carley Pride. Advancing by being one of the next best 3 marks placing 4th last night were Gabby Gibbs in the high jump and Stephanie Nobbe in the 100m dash. Congratulations to everyone advancing to Regionals!
