Kathleen Stenger

Kathleen Stenger, 67 years old, of St. Leon, IN passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, April 12, 2022. Originally from Harrison, OH, Kathy moved to St. Leon after marrying Eric (Rick) Stenger, the love of her life.  God and family were at the center of Kathy’s life. She was part of the God Squad and All Saints Ladies Sodality and preferred being at home with family over anything. She loved entertaining and getting everyone together and especially enjoyed decorating for the holidays. Her love of cooking and baking ensured that there was more than enough food for everyone to enjoy when friends and family came over. Kathy went to all the children’s sporting events with a cow bell and bag of noise makers in tow. She was always the driver in the big van as she hauled the kids around town. Although she liked to go out and be busy, she was grateful to come home and be with her family. Kathy could often be overheard chatting on the phone catching up with friends, bouncing from one phone call to another. She favored ice cream & breakfast dates with Rick, although truly any time with him was her favorite. After the kids were in school, Kathy worked as a teacher’s assistant at Sunman Elementary. She was very selfless, always putting everyone else first. True to her nature, even when Kathy was sick, she wanted to ensure everyone was comfortable and happy.

Kathy will be deeply missed by her husband of 43 years, Rick; and her children Eric (Brooke) Stenger of Batesville, Kassandra (Cyrus) Stenger-Egger of St. Leon, Matthew (Jennifer) Stenger of Batesville, Victoria (Alexander) Cromer of Cincinnati, and Jessica (Jake) Oakley of Harrison; grandchildren Jayden Stenger, Henry Stenger, Everett Stenger, Malcolm Cromer, Owen Stenger, and Olivia Oakley; siblings Richard (Elizabeth) Metz, Barbara (Lawrence) Banks, Diane Holtzhouser, Christina (William) Ramsey, Gregory (Doreen) Metz, Douglas (Luann) Metz, and sister-in-law Margie Metz. Kathy is preceded in death by her parents Bonita & Irvin Metz and siblings Daniel Metz, Michael Metz, and brother-in-law Dale Holtzhouser.
