(Statewide) – The Indiana Department of Education is accepting applications for the 2026 Summer Food Service Program, which provides free meals to children 18 and under while school is out. Applications are due by April 30 after nearly 3.5 million meals were served statewide last year.

(Statewide) – The average price of gas in Indiana is $2.72 per gallon, according to AAA, down 14 cents from last week and 11 cents from a month ago. The national average stands at $2.88.

(Indianapolis, IN) – An Indianapolis man has been convicted in connection with a 2024 hit-and-run crash that killed Roy Hodges Jr. After a one-day trial, Jerry Alexander was found guilty of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. Investigators said security camera footage and license plate reader data led officers to Alexander, where they later found the damaged SUV hidden inside a garage.

(Marion County, IN) – An Indianapolis man has been sentenced to 106 years in prison for a violent 2021 crime spree that ended with the murder of Dezmond King. Prosecutors said Terri Young-Moses was linked to the crimes through DNA and ballistic evidence following a months-long investigation.

(Indianapolis, IN) – The Indianapolis City-County Council has appointed Doran Moreland as its new Chief of Staff and Chief Policy Officer, serving under Council President Maggie Lewis. Moreland previously worked in the offices of former U.S. Sen. Evan Bayh and former Indianapolis Mayor Bart Peterson, and most recently held a leadership role at Ivy Tech Community College.

(Indianapolis, IN) – Bank of America credit and debit cardholders can receive free general admission this weekend, Feb. 7–8, at Conner Prairie, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum, and Newfields through the company’s Museums on Us program. The offer excludes special exhibits and requires a valid photo ID.

(Clinton County, IN) – An Indianapolis man is facing multiple charges following a high-speed pursuit on Interstate 65 Sunday night. Indiana State Police arrested 30-year-old Michael Rogerson after several 911 calls reported a Mustang stopped in a travel lane. Troopers said Rogerson fled a traffic stop before being taken into custody. Officers reported finding suspected alcohol, marijuana, and mushrooms in the vehicle.

(Statewide) – U.S. Sen. Todd Young has joined Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith in reintroducing the SAVE Moms and Babies Act, legislation that would tighten federal restrictions on chemical abortion drugs. The bill would require in-person doctor visits and ban distribution via mail or telemedicine. The measure now heads to committee review in the U.S. Senate.

(Noblesville, IN) – The American Red Cross is opening a new Blood and Platelet Donation Center at Hazel Dell Crossing, with a ribbon-cutting scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 11. The center will allow donors in the northern Indianapolis suburbs to donate platelets locally for the first time, helping meet critical needs for cancer patients and trauma victims.

(Kosciusko County, IN) – The Indiana Department of Natural Resources has received a $50,000 grant to develop a 3-D archery range and 1.5-mile scenic walking trail at the Tri-County Fish and Wildlife Area. The project will include 25 target stations, with construction expected to be completed by mid-2026.

(South Bend, IN) – A South Bend man has been sentenced to two months in prison after pleading guilty to bank embezzlement. Authorities said 34-year-old Kerry Hancock stole more than $180,000 while working as a teller in Mishawaka by forging a customer’s signature on withdrawals from a rarely used account.

(Fort Wayne, IN) – A Fort Wayne man and registered sex offender has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison for the sexual exploitation of minors. Prosecutors said Jason Pea groomed a 13-year-old online, extorted explicit material, and shared it with another minor. He will be subject to lifetime supervision after release and ordered to pay $17,000 in restitution and assessments.
