Judith A. Richey of Greensburg passed away peacefully at Aspen Place Health Campus on August 20, 2021. She was born on January 26, 1942, in Greenfield, IN, to Paul E. and Izola M. Richey.
She graduated from Greenfield High School with the class of 1960. She received her BS in Education in 1965 and her Master of Arts in 1971 from Ball State University. Judy’s career as an art teacher in the Greensburg Community Schools spanned some 35 years until her retirement in 2001.
The importance of education was a foundation of Judy’s life. She, as a teacher, took so much pleasure in seeing her students develop and learn. She loved to travel, and she served as a sponsor on several student trips to Europe. She was a big fan of Pirate sports as well as the Reds, IU, and the Colts. She loved to play games and had a large collection on Mona Lisa memorabilia. Judy was a member of the Greensburg Country Club, not for her golfing skills, but for the friends in the Monday Night Ladies League. For several years, she took an active role on the leadership team at Art on the Square Gallery.
Judi is survived be a brother, Jacque D. (Donna) Richey of Greensburg; a niece, Paula (Peter) Schlax of Lewiston, ME; a nephew, Jeffrey (Beth) Richey of Milton, VT; two grand nieces, Sarah and Norah Schlax, both of Iowa; several cousins from the Greenfield area.
Judy has requested that there be no funeral, so she will be cremated, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested for donations to be made in Judy’s memory to a charity of your choice. The family wants to acknowledge and extend their appreciation for the wonderful care provided by the staffs at Crown Point Senior Living Community and Aspen Place Health Campus.
