Naomi Joyce Dresselhaus, 91, of Cincinnati passed away at 5:30pm Sunday, March 19, 2017 at the Hospice of Cincinnati surrounded by her family. She was born at Turner’s Station in Henry County, Kentucky on October 9, 1925 the daughter of John and Nellie Ball Mahoney. She was married to Howard Dresselhaus on June 24, 1944 in the first recorded wedding at the Bear Creek Baptist Church in Friendship and he preceded her in death on August 1, 2003. Survivors include two daughters Jane and Jennifer; one grandson Mark and three great-grandchildren Tyler, Makenzie, and Alex all of Cincinnati. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Janice Dick, and her brother Philip Mahoney. Joyce was a 1943 graduate of Cross Plains High School. She retired from Hanover College in 1989 where she had worked as an assistant registrar. Joyce’s hobbies included knitting, traveling, and doing genealogy. In 1986 she published the Dresselhaus genealogy and published the Mahoney genealogy in 2005. The family had the opportunity to visit the Dresselhaus Estate in Schale, Germany in 1989. Joyce was a member of the Hanover Baptist Church and an Honorary Kentucky Colonel. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 25th from 12pm to 2pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. A graveside service will follow at the St. Peters Cemetery at Olean with Rev. Sherman Hughes of the Bear Creek Baptist Church in Friend ship officiating. Memorials may be given to the Hospice of Cincinnati or St. Peters Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
