Joseph D. “Joe” Allen, 81, Moores Hill

       Joseph D. “Joe” Allen, 81, of Moores Hill passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at Manderley Health Care Center. Joe was born on Saturday, July 3, 1943, in Cincinnati; son of Willard S. Allen Sr. and Louise (Sellers) Allen. Joe married the love of his life, Nina (Knopf) Allen, on February 29, 1964, and she survives him. Joe worked as a senior design engineer for Cincinnati Incorporated for 43 years. He was a lifetime member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, a member of the church council, and a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery Association. Joe was also a volunteer for the Moores Hill Fire and EMS for 40 years and at one time was the Moores Hill town council president. Joe loved the outdoors, but especially loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and hiking. Joe enjoyed tinkering around doing things such as refinishing antique furniture and working on his father-in-law’s farm. He was an avid sports watcher and loved to go to his grandchildren’s events. Most of all Joe cherished spending time with his loving family and telling them all of his great stories.

Joe will be missed by his wife Nina Allen of Moores Hill; children Dale (Hope) Allen of St. Louis, Missouri, Cindy (Mike) Schnebelt of Moores Hill, and Marcus (Gena) Allen of Lawrenceburg; brothers Dave (Suzy) Allen of Lawrenceburg and Tom (Lynn) Allen of Moores Hill; sister-in-law Patty Allen of Guilford; grandchildren Ana Nicole, Nathan, Drew, Dannie, Luke, Zachary, Emma, Seth, Brett, and Collin; and great-grandchildren Kalli, Nora, Quinn, Aubrey, Grady, Billy, and Joey.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents Willard Allen Sr. and Louise Allen; daughter Shari Finley; and brothers Willard Allen Jr. and Jim Allen.

Family and friends may gather remembering Joe from 5:00-7:00 PM, Monday, July 29, 2024, at the Sibbett-Moore Funeral Home in Moores Hill. An hour of visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at St. Paul Lutheran Church; 7124 IN-101, Milan, IN 47031. Services will follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be given in honor of Joe to Moores Hill Fire Department or St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery Association.
