John Patrick Doerflein, age 58, of Brookville, died unexpectedly Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at his residence in Brookville.
Born March 17, 1960 in Batesville, Indiana he was the fourth of seven children born to the late Robert F. & Teresa M. (Frank) Doerflein. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps; and had also served in the Indiana National Guard for over 16 years.
John was employed for many years as a meat cutter, most recently at Whitewater Processing in Harrison, Ohio. In his leisure time he enjoyed Louis L’Amour novels, action movies and was a history buff.
Survivors include six siblings and their spouses, Steven G. (Vicki) Doerflein of Morris, Indiana, William (Kathy) Doerflein of Metamora, Indiana, Ken (Wanda) Doerflein of Laurel, Indiana, Joseph Lee (Jennine) Doerflein of Sacramento, California, Betty Ann (Robert) Wilkerson of Bowling Green, Kentucky and Linda Susan (Peter) Hebauf of West Harrison, Indiana.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by aunts & uncles, Christine Powell, Alvina Turner, Carol Gruber, Roman Frank and David Doerflein; grandparents, Robert J. & Mollie G. Doerflein; and Edward & Marie Frank
Family & friends may visit from 5 until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville.
Rev. Vincent Lampert will officiate the Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, August 29, 2018, 10:30 A.M. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 145 East St. Michael Blvd. Brookville. Burial with full military honors by the Bernard Hurst Post #77 of the American Legion will follow in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery in Brookville.
