John C. Fasbinder, age 77 of Batesville, Indiana, died Sunday, October 21, 2018 at The Waters of Batesville. Born October 1, 1941, he is the son of Elsie (Nee: Abplanalp) and Clarence Fasbinder. He married Marita Meadows on September 7, 1968 and they just celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary this past month.
John was a punch press operator at the Hill-Rom Company for 44 years, before retiring in 2005 and worked a second job during that time at the Obermeyer Marathon Station in Oldenburg.
John loved to fish and he was very good at it, though Marita laughed that when she would go with him, she would sometimes catch more fish than him. He loved to go to classic car shows and could identify the year of the car by the body style or by the cars tail lights. With his fondness of the old cars, he enjoyed assembling classic car scale model kits at home as a hobby. He liked to go for “short” car rides, which usually ended up being three hours or longer. His true passion though was his family and especially his four boys whom he was very proud that they all had graduated from college.
He is survived by his wife Marita; sons and daughters in law Scott and Lee Ann Fasbinder of Batesville, John D. and Kendra Fasbinder of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Anthony Fasbinder of Bedford, Indiana, Christopher and Kimberly Fasbinder of Columbus, Ohio; sister Joyce Kirschner of Oldenburg, Indiana; brother Thomas Fasbinder of San Francisco, California; grandchildren Emmery, Cayleigh, Cole and Gabriel Fasbinder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother Robert Fasbinder and grandson Chase Fasbinder.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 24th, from 9 – 11 a.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville. Funeral services are 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 24th, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Batesville, with Rev. Stan Pondo officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to Breaking Parkinsons.
