John Albert Bunselmeier, 79, of Osgood, passed away Friday, March 6, 2026, at St. Andrews Health Campus in Batesville.
John was born July 26, 1946, in Batesville, the son of Albert John and Viola (Meyer) Bunselmeier. He graduated from Jac-Cen-Del High School in 1964 and went on to attend Sam’s Technical School, where he became a licensed electrician. In 1968, John enlisted in the Air Force Reserves.
John was a successful businessman, owning and operating several small businesses, including Bunselmeier Electric, Bonaparte’s Retreat, Electrical Salvage and Storage, and Merchants, Inc. In 1991, John purchased the former Osgood Elementary School and eventually renovated it into a venue that hosted countless weddings, celebrations, and community events. John also enjoyed traveling, following the stock market, hunting, and spending time outdoors with his dog, Bo.
John was a member of the Madison American Legion Post 157 and St. John Lutheran Church in Napoleon.
John is survived by his children: John (Jennifer) Bunselmeier of Versailles, Jason (Genevieve) Bunselmeier of Spanish Fort, Alabama, Kristen Bunselmeier of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Alec Bunselmeier of Batesville; grandchildren Elijah and Ethan Hawkins of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Silas, Sadie, and Sally Bunselmeier of Spanish Fort, Alabama; his sister, Lois (Carlos) Luken of Batesville; and nieces Cari (Charlie) Schuck of Batesville and Lori (Patrick) McIntyre of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter, Emma Grace Bunselmeier.
