The Reds got off to a hot start against the Cardinals last night in St. Louis…  Cincinnati scored 1 in the first inning, and just kept on scoring thru the 5th, finally adding their 11th run in the 7th, for a final of 11-4.  Six different Reds had at least 2 hits in the game.  And young prospect Noelvi Marte did indeed come off the suspended list, to get 3 hits at the plate, he also batted a run in, and he stole a base.  On the mound, Andrew Abbott labored thru 5 innings while issuing 6 walks, but he held the Cards to just 2 runs, as he won his 7th game of the season.  The Reds take on the Cards again tonight in St. Louis.  The broadcast arrives on your radio at 7:45, so join us for all the action, on the Sports Voice, 103.9, WRBI.

One of the best individual performances among local high school athletes in this year’s spring season was that of Greensburg track & field senior Emarie Jackson, who finished 2nd in the state in the shot put at 48 feet 9 inches, and 3rd at the Outdoor National meet in Philadelphia, with 47 feet, 3 and ¾ inches.  Emarie tells WRBI she’s had a couple key people to look up to…

Now that she’s graduated, Emarie’s committed to attending the University of Delaware in the fall.  One of her coaches there will be 2016 Olympic shot putter Darrell Hill.

On the 2nd day of the NBA draft Thursday, the Pacers finally had some picks to make…  with one of them, Indiana traded up to get Kansas guard Johnny Furphy.  He’s a 6-foot-9 wing from Melbourne, Australia, who only played one season of American college hoops.  Later in the 2nd round, the Pacers also chose UConn’s Tristen Newton 49th, and used the 50th pick to get Akron’s Enrique Freeman.  Newton scored 15 points a game, grabbed 6.6 rebounds a game, and handed out 6.2 assists last season, while Freeman averaged 18.6 points per game along with 13 boards and 1.7 blocked shots.
