Jewell R. Chambers, 81

Jewell R. Chambers, 81, Greensburg, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at her home with her family by her side.  Born August 6, 1938 in Terre Haute, Indiana, she was the daughter of James William and Vivian (Hatfield) Lawson.  Jewell graduated from Prairie Creek High School.  She worked as secretary at Rosenmund School for 28 years.  She was an active member of the First Baptist Church.  At the church she started and chaired the funeral committee, served on the decorating committee, and was a member of the choir.  She had also been a member of the Extension Homemakers Club, the Psi Iota Xi Thrift Store, and the Kids Closet.  She really enjoyed being in the Tree City Camping Club and spending time with family and friends on these trips.  She was married to Hugh Chambers on June 15, 1958 and he survives.  She is also survived by two sons, Rick (Lisa) Chambers, Greensburg, Gary (Lisa) Chambers, Greensburg; one brother, Dr. R. Brad (Rita) Lawson, Terre Haute; six grandchildren, Erica (Keith) Kramer, Jessica (Matthew) Sanchez, Derek Chambers, Megan (Dani) Davidson, Katelyn Chambers, Kristen Chambers; five great grandchildren; Amare and Kyrie Kramer, Nora and Liam Sanchez, Prentice Chambers.  She was preceded in death by her parents.  Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 8:00 p.m. at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg.  Visitation will also be held on Saturday, September 14th from 9 to 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Greensburg.   Funeral Services will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the church with Rev. Cliff Bunch and Rev. Steve Wood co-officiating.  Interment will be held in the South Park Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the Jewell Chambers Citizenship Award to be presented at the Greensburg Elementary School.  Online condolences can be made to the family at www.popfuneralhome.com
