Jean Thompson Ketcham Stute

Jean Thompson Ketcham Stute, 96 of Frankfort formally of Milan passed away January 31, 2017 in Frankfort.  She was born January 24, 1921 at the Miwogco Springs Hotel and Sanitarium in Milan, Indiana.  Her parents were Mary Elizabeth Thompson Ketcham and Edward Ketcham.  Her grandparents were T.H. and Elizabeth Thompson.  Surviving is a sister Elizabeth Ann Wichmann (Robert), daughter: Joan Stute Platt (Jimmy), granddaughters, Jean Taryn Saylor (William); Tracy Lynn Platt; and Molly Ann Dahmen (Jeff); and one great-grandson, Jacob.  She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers: Robert, Thomas, Jon Kohlmeier. Jean graduated from Milan High School.  She married John W. Stute and worked as the family bookkeeper at W.H. Stute & Sons after working part-time, as a bookkeeper at the Milan Furniture Factory built by her grandfather T.H. Thompson.  She belonged to several civic and social organizations over the years and participated with friends and family until she moved to Frankfort, Indiana.  She held offices in many of the following: New Harmony; Chi Phi Gamma; Internationally Yours; Eastern Star; American Legion Auxiliary; VFW Auxiliary and was a member of the Milan Methodist Church.  She was President of the Milan Park Board when the shelter house was built and was instrumental in naming the accompanying Thompson Lane after her Grandfather.  She and her husband were members of the Milan Golf Course and Country Club built by T.H. Thompson.  She also served on the Craven Cemetery board until moving from Milan.

Memorial service will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday April 22, 2017 at Law-Carr-Moore Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Holt officiating. Visitation will be from 11AM until the time of service.  Burial will be at Craven Cemetery south of Milan.  Memorials may be made to: Milan Methodist Church; Park board; Beautification committee.
