Jean C. Miller, age 96 of Largo, FL, died March 11, 2021. She was born July 27, 1924, in Arlington, IN., the daughter of Charlotte and Raymond Wicker. She graduated from Arlington High School in 1942 and attended New Castle Business College for six months. She worked for four and one half years at the Perfect Circle Company in Hagerstown, IN.
On May 16, 1947, she married Morris D. (Tony) Miller and they lived in Clarksburg, IN where they operated Miller’s General Store with his parents for sixty-two years. She worked thirty-four years for the United States Postal Service, working twenty-six years at the post office in Clarksburg and serving as Post Master at New Point for eight years. She and her husband spent several years in Lakeland, FL before his passing at Citrus Woods. Her last home was at Elmcroft Assisted Living in Largo, FL where she spent seven years.
Her church homes were Clarksburg Christian Church, Havendale Christian Church, and Crossroads Christian Church in Largo. She served as a post matron of Bethlehem O.E.S. #562 and was a member of Delta Theta Pi.
Survivors include: Nancy (daughter) and Mike Percifield of Largo, FL; Julie (daughter) and Norio Sugawara of Parrish, FL; a half-sister Cyndy Jacobs of Tucson, AZ; two granddaughters, Kristi Hale and Trisha Sorrells; two grandsons, Tommy and Michael Sugawara; and two step grandchildren, Mark Percifield and Melinda Bernhardt. Great-grandchildren—Kaeli and Drew Hale, Joshua and Owen Sorrells; step great grandchildren Luke and Ashley Percifield, Maddie and Brodie Bernhardt.
The Reverend Jerran Jackson will conduct the services at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 20th at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home in Greensburg, IN. Due to COVID concerns, the funeral will be open to family only.
