JCD School Board accepts retirement, hears from student lifesaver

Osgood, IN — The Jac-Cen-Del School Board recently approved the retirement of Maintenance and Co-Transportation Director Bill Craddock, effective February 2.

Craddock was thanked by interim Superintendent Fred Unsicker for his service to the school corporation.

The board also heard from Jac-Cen-Del High School sophomore basketball player Savannah Steele, who gave an account of how she used the Heimlich Maneuver to save the lives of two students who were choking.

The incidents took place on separate occasions over a three-week period.

Steele received a standing ovation from everyone in attendance.

After graduating from high school, she says her plans are to become a physical therapist.
