James R. “Jim” “Jimmy” Grehl, 81, of Dillsboro passed away Monday, January 5, 2026. Jim was born on Friday, November 24, 1944, in Lebanon, Ohio; son of Robert and Lucille (Lohman) Grehl. Jim married the love of his life, Anita (Voegele) Grehl, on November 26, 1970, and she preceded him in death on January 24, 2018. Jim served in the United States Army and worked as a truck driver. He loved his job as a truck driver and also enjoyed farming. Jim would also go to “school” every morning with his friends at Lake Dilldear truck stop where they would spend time drinking coffee together.
Jim will be missed by his sons Steve Grehl of Whiteland, Indiana and Bob Grehl of Dillsboro; grandchildren Kristi Grehl, Kayla Grehl, Josh Hastings, Ashley (Austin) Bowell, Tiffany (Jason) Niewedde, Miranda Grehl, Taylor (Isabella) Grehl, and Elissa Grehl; and great-grandchildren Annabelle Niewedde, Carter Niewedde, and Fredrick Niewedde.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Lucille Grehl and wife Anita Grehl.
Family and friends may gather in remembering Jim from 10:00-11:00 AM, Friday, January 9, 2026, at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan. Services will follow at 11:00 AM with Father Shaun Whittington officiating. Military rites will be provided following the service by Milan American Legion Post #235. Burial will take place at 1:30 PM at West Chester Township Cemetery: 6425 West Chester Road, West Chester, OH 45069. Memorials may be given in honor of Jim to the donor’s choice or Mass at St. Charles Catholic Church.
