(Greensburg, IN) – Batesville doubled up Greensburg 6-3 in varsity baseball on the Pirates’ home diamond Monday evening.
Bulldog senior Will Jaisle was dominant on the mound, striking out 11 Greensburg batters while giving up 3 hits, 3 runs, and walking 4 over 4 innings.
Jaisle, Mason Jones, and Carson Meyer at the bottom of the Batesville lineup combined for six of the team’s 12 hits in their victory. They each scored one run and drove in one.
Batesville added a run in the 2nd after Greensburg committed a throwing error on a dropped third strike.
Luke Hoeing stepped on the hill first for Greensburg. The hurler allowed 11 hits and six runs (five earned) over four innings, striking out two and walking three.
Dudley pitched three innings of scoreless ball for Batesville in relief. The lefty surrendered zero hits, struck out six and walked one.
Jones, Batesville’s number eight hitter, led the team with three hits in four at-bats. Maple led the Bulldogs with two runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-4 on the day. Carson Schneider and Meyer each collected multiple hits for Batesville.
The Pirates’ Caleb Greiwe went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Greensburg turned one double play in the game.
The Bulldogs are now 9-3 on the season and in first place in the EIAC at 6-1. Next up for Batesville is a game at Milan on Tuesday.

In the JV contest, it was Greensburg over Batesville 10-0.
The Pirates jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the third inning after McCalvin singled, scoring two runs, and a wild pitch scored one run.
Greensburg added five runs on five hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. Ramsey singled, scoring two runs, McCalvin singled, scoring two runs, and Bishop doubled, scoring one run.
Miller earned the win for the JV Pirates. The hurler surrendered one hit and zero runs over five innings, struck out six and walked two.
James Hughes took the loss for the JV Bulldogs. He went three innings, gave up three runs (two earned) on four hits, struck out five and walked three.
Max Meyer went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Batesville offensively.
Greensburg amassed 11 hits in the game. Miller and Sefton were a force together in the lineup – each collected three hits while hitting back-to-back in the order. McCalvin drove the middle of the lineup, leading the JV Pirates with three runs batted in. The number three hitter went 2-for-4 on the day.
The Pirates played error free ball. McCalvin had the most chances in the field with seven.
Batesville hosts the Lawrenceburg Junior Varsity Tigers on Monday for their next game.
