ISP releases name of semi driver killed west of Batesville

(Batesville, IN) – Indiana State Police have released the name of the semi-driver who was killed in a crash that happened on Westbound I-74 near Batesville Tuesday morning.

55-year-old Osei Boateng died in the single-vehicle crash when his 2017 Peterbilt tractor pulling a trailer hit a bridge support at the Huntersville Road overpass around 4 a.m.

State Police reconstructionists were called to the scene to investigate the crash.

Boateng was trapped in the vehicle when first responders arrived and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Franklin County Coroner.

ISP says Boateng’s tractor-trailer went left into the median, smashed through several yellow barricades, and collided with the concrete bridge support.

The trailer’s load spilled in the median and onto the interstate.

Westbound -74 was closed for seven hours during the crash investigation and clean-up.

The investigation is ongoing.

Boateng was from Central Ohio.

State troopers received assistance from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, the Batesville Police Department, Batesville Fire and Rescue, and the Franklin County Coroner’s Office.
