JENNINGS COUNTY, IN — Indiana State Police and the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office continue their joint investigation into the death of a North Vernon man.
Twenty-seven-year-old Joseph Gill’s body was found last Thursday along State Road 3 in northern Jennings County near the Decatur County line, two days after he was reported missing.
Investigators now believe Gill may have been hit by a vehicle while walking along the road last Tuesday morning between 4:30 and 5.
Initial autopsy results indicate Gill sustained injuries that are consistent with being struck by a vehicle.
Police urge anyone who may have traveled State Road 3 near the Jennings/Decatur County line during that time period and thinks they may have hit something or someone or may have seen Gill in the area, to contact the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators are looking for a vehicle that may have sustained passenger side damage.
They are also asking anyone with a home camera system who may have captured video of traffic on State Road 3 between North Vernon and Westport during that time to contact the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office at (812) 346-4911.
