WASHINGTON, D.C. — Local Marine Kelsee Lainhart is out of the ICU at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington and is now on the Wounded Warrior Floor.
That’s according to Lainhart’s mother Stacy, who is posting updates on a Caring Bridge site.
Cpl. Lainhart – who is a 2019 graduate of East Central High School – was seriously wounded during last month’s suicide bombing at the Kabul, Afghanistan airport that killed 13 service members.
According to the post, Lainhart has been able to sit upright in a chair for four hours.
She also received a visit on Monday from fellow Marine Kyle Carpenter, who is the youngest living Medal of Honor recipient.
Last weekend, Lainhart and her family met Cpl. Wyatt Wilson, who was also wounded in the Kabul attack. He helped rescue Lainhart and got her to a MediVac for treatment.
