Indiana’s attorney general is asking for a full court review to decide the fate of the state’s gay marriage ban.
The court has already scheduled briefing with a three-judge panel. Attorney General Greg Zoeller said moving the process to the full court of 10-judge 7th Circuit Court of Appeals would be an additional way to move quickly to resolve the uncertainty with the law.
State agencies were instructed last week by the governor’s office to not recognize same-sex marriages that were conducted following the federal court order until an official determination is made.
Additionally on Friday, Wisconsin filed a notice of appeal with the 7th Circuit, raising similar issues involving portions of Wisconsin’s marriage law, and noting the court’s recent decision to expedite briefing in the Indiana case
