The educational kit explores the fascinating lives of birds and features hands-on activities that highlight their behavior and survival, the habitats they reside in, and ways to observe them up close through interactive outdoor experiences.
To apply for free Indiana for the Birds educational kits, educators can visit the Indiana Audubon website. Additionally, select schools in the Marion County area can apply for free birds of prey programs brought to their classroom.
The “Indiana for the Birds” educational program is provided through a generous grant from the Efroymson Family Fund and will provide educational kits to 50 classrooms statewide. Teachers wishing to extend the educational experience can also schedule field trips to the Audubon’s Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary in Connersville. Live bird programming is available throughout the spring and fall seasons.
