We’re paying more at the pump in Southeastern Indiana compared to the national average.
According to Gasbuddy.com, the average cost of gas nationwide as of Wednesday afternoon is $3.66 a gallon.
The average in the Hoosier State is $3.85, the 11th highest in the country.
Locally gas prices range from just below the state average to upwards of $3.95 a gallon.
Experts say the increase in gasoline costs is attributed to the crisis in the Middle East. Exxon Mobile reportedly carried out a major evacuation and BP moved 20 percent of its staff out of Iraq on Tuesday.
The turbulence in the Middle East could lead to more of a hike in gas and food locally.
