(Washington, D.C.) – An Indiana Congressman has introduced a bill aimed at increasing amusement park ride safety.
According to U.S. Rep. André Carson (D-IN-07), the National Amusement Park Safety Act would create safety standards for amusement park rides nationwide.
This would increase the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s ability to ensure that the safety standards are met, investigate accidents, tackle and correct defects, increase safety training for roller operators and serve as a way of collecting accident and defect data across the United States.
The bill aims to regard rides permanently fixed to an amusement park as consumer products, thereby ensuring their safety and keeping the public protected.
