Fire Chief Shannon Craig says investigators are specifically seeking photos or videos taken before fire crews arrived on scene. Those early images, officials say, could provide critical insight into how the fire started and how it developed in its earliest moments.
Residents who may have captured images while driving past the area or from nearby properties are encouraged to share them with the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office. Anyone submitting photos or video is asked to include their name and phone number to assist investigators if follow-up questions are needed.
Chief Craig emphasized that images taken after firefighters arrived are not necessary, as the department already has extensive documentation from the response itself. The focus remains on visual evidence from the minutes before emergency crews reached the scene.
The fire broke out on Christmas Day and drew a significant response from Greendale Fire and surrounding agencies. While no injuries were reported, the blaze caused notable damage to the commercial properties and remains under investigation.
Anyone with relevant photos or video is encouraged to forward them directly to the Indiana State Fire Marshal as investigators work to determine the fire’s origin and cause.
