IDH says not many eligible Hoosier kids getting COVID-19 vaccinations

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — The Indiana Department of Health said Tuesday that only 6,500 coronavirus vaccines were administered to children between the ages of 5 and 11 last week.

That’s just a little more than one percent of younger children who are eligible to get the shot.

Vaccine clinics around the state are busy but more boosters than first-time shots are being administered.

The state health department said an average of around 18,000 shots per day were given last week.
