IDH announces more than 4,000 new cases, cuts school quarantine time in half

STATEWIDE — The Indiana Department of Health announced 4,091 new COVID-19 cases and no new deaths across the state Monday.

Locally, Ripley County had 13 new cases, Dearborn County reported 10, Franklin County checked in with eight, and Decatur County had four new positives.

Meantime, IDH said Monday that kids who test positive for the coronavirus will have to miss five days of school instead of 10.

Children returning to school will have to wear a mask.

Those who choose not to will have to stay home for the full 10-day period.

In school corporations with mask requirements, children who are in close contact with someone who tests positive for the virus will not have to quarantine.

In schools without mask mandates, only fully vaccinated kids can stay in class.

All other close contacts will have to quarantine at home for at least five days.
