Greensburg, IN — The Hospital Foundation of Decatur County, which provides financial support to Decatur County Memorial Hospital’s healthcare initiatives, held its annual Donor Appreciation Luncheon Wednesday at the hospital.
Executive Director Mandy Lohrum presented a review of 2022; the grants awarded to the hospital last year, and thanked donors and sponsors for their support.
Lohrum also announced the rollout of the “Strengthening Our Future” campaign.
“We’ll launch that to the public on April 1, and we’re in our silent phase of that right now,” Lohrum said. “But we will be using $1.2 Million to support our new Medical Rehabilitation Center.”
Ground was broken for the 22,000-square-foot facility last June.
The two-story building is going up on the north end of the DCMH campus along Lincoln Street, with completion expected by the end of 2023.
Hospital President and CEO Rex McKinney also thanked donors and celebrated the past year’s successes at Wednesday’s event, and he talked about the newly-launched fundraising campaign.
“The Rehab building was an objective for well over 12 years. We’ve had extraordinary and just outstanding services and clinical services, but our space needed some help. We’re so pleased to be able to do that for our community,” McKinney said.
With the construction of the Rehabilitation Center well underway, why now for the campaign kickoff?
“What we’ve discovered is there are many individuals in our community who would like to play a role in the medical rehab office building through financial support,” McKinney said. “The community will certainly hear about it because we know there are several individuals who are excited about the rehab building as well as supporting it in some fashion.”
The Hospital Foundation also recognized outgoing board member Sandy Nieman at yesterday’s luncheon.
Since its founding in 1992, the Hospital Foundation of Decatur County has raised $6.5 Million for Decatur County Memorial Hospital initiatives.
