(Greensburg, IN) – The Hospital Foundation of Decatur County raised over $25,162 at its annual Tee Off ‘Fore’ Ta-Tas at North Branch Golf Course.

All proceeds from the event directly fund the Pink Ribbon Fund, which ensures those in need can receive their essential annual mammograms at Decatur County Memorial Hospital (DCMH).

Donations are welcome year-round to the Pink Ribbon Fund. However, during September and October, the Foundation actively raises awareness and funds through several initiatives, including Tee Off ‘Fore’ Ta-Tas and PINK OUT events.

Tee Off ‘Fore’ Ta-Tas is an evening of awareness and fun to honor those who have fought or are currently fighting breast cancer. Participants create a foursome team, pick a fun breast health team name, register, and coordinate costumes representing the team’s name. No golf skills or clubs are required as this unique event includes goofy games set on the golf course, though scores are kept and two prizes are possible.

The first prize is presented by North Branch Golf Course owner Mary Lou Gauck and the course’s PGA Head Professional, Angela Belter, for the winner of the course games. The second prize, the People’s Choice Award, is presented by judges who select the most creative breast health-themed team name and costumes. Hospital Foundation Director Mandy Lohrum shared that 39 teams participated in the 9th annual event, with team ‘Tit Tac Toe’ taking the first prize as the winner of the course games and team ‘Chicken Breasts’ bringing home the People’s Choice Award. In addition to the course games, attendees enjoyed a meal prepared by DCMH Dietary, cookies by Carrie Ramer, a walk on the Pink Carpet, a raffle, and other fun games.

Lohrum conveyed her appreciation to all who contributed to the event and highlighted the importance of their backing. “We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our generous supporters of the Pink Ribbon Fund. Your contributions play a crucial role in ensuring that women in our community have access to essential mammograms. Together, we are making a significant impact in the fight against breast cancer and promoting the health and well-being of our community. ”

Funds raised at this event were possible thanks to the generous support of tournament sponsors Stradley Hagerty Dentistry, Geenex Solar, Arbor Grove Village, Great Plains Communications, Hickory Creek at Greensburg, Obermeyer Agri Group, as well as sponsors Aspen Place Health Campus, Clearstead, Decatur County REMC, DELV Design, First Financial Bank, JCBank, Morning Breeze, The Napoleon State Bank, Noles Family Dentistry, Peine Engineering, PFC USA, State Farm Insurance Agent Dana Witkemper, and Unified Group Services. Many foursome teams were also sponsored by local businesses such as Bryant’s Bar, Carriage on the Square, Dr’s Touch Auto Paint Correction, Dr. Welage, Hanger Clinic, Hoosier Shine, Indiana Spray Foam King, K&S Arms, Manderley Healthcare, Options Behavioral Health Indianapolis, Outpatient Integrated Strategies, Stones NAPA, W & K Roofing, and Willows Healthcare.

Funds raised from this event allow DCMH to provide preventive mammogram screenings to our community. These screenings are vital in early detection and are essential to effective disease treatment and management.

“Since 2014, over 400 mammograms and 250 procedures have been completed through the Pink Ribbon Fund, thanks to our community’s generosity,” said Lohrum. “To date, 247 patients have been supported, totaling $291,782.”

The Hospital Foundation thanks all those who attended or supported Tee Off ‘Fore’ Ta-Tas and for their continued support of the Foundation. Every donation, regardless of its size, contributes to the Hospital Foundation’s mission of supporting DCMH by advancing the health and wellness of our community.
