Hope man arrest on allegation of murder after double stabbing

Hope, IN— In what is believed to be a domestic battery situation in Hope has left one person dead and one injured on Tuesday.

According to the Bartholomew County Sheriffs Office, on Tuesday morning, Charles Mee,50, of Hope, died from a stab wound to the neck and blunt force trauma to the head and face.  Toxicology tests are still pending. Deputies believe the violence started as a domestic disturbance between the family members. A woman with non-life-threatening injuries was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital was identified as Barbara Mee, 78.

James Mee, 77, was arrested on allegations of murder and domestic battery charges. He was not injured in the incident. Mee was taken to the Bartholomew County jail on a 48-hour hold, according to the Sheriff’s office.

The investigation is ongoing.
