(Greensburg, IN) – Honda took the wraps off the new 2026 CR-V TrailSport Friday at the Indiana Auto Plant in Greensburg.
It’s the first time the CR-V model will feature a rugged TrailSport edition, which will be built exclusively at the Greensburg facility.
Honda Associate Ben Hertzinger says as they looked at the market, especially when it comes to millennials, the company took notice of that age group doing more outdoors.
“With the CR-V being our best selling SUV, it was kind of just the next logical step to open that up with some of the millennial customers and anybody outside that generation as well who wants to experience light off-roading but without having to go to a serious off-road vehicle but something that really drives extremely well on the highway but gives you that opportunity for camping and other outdoor activities,” Hertzinger said.
Plant Lead Roxanna Metz says the Greensburg facility is at capacity, and that the TrailSport will be in the CR-V population that is included in the plant’s 1-thousand-vehicle-a-day production.
“So we are at capacity,” Metz said. “We can run 250-thousand vehicles a year and that’s what we do.”
Metz adds, despite adding production the TrailSport, there are no plans at this time to expand the Greensburg facility.
