Greensburg, IN — This year’s heavy trash collection weeks in the City of Greensburg will take place May 15 thru 19 and August 21 thru 25.
Street Commissioner Mark Klosterkemper says there will be some new rules going into this year’s program.
“We’re going to request that all small items must be bagged, and must be intact when we pick them up,” he said. “The other large change is there will be no demolition or construction debris collected. That includes lumber, insulation, drywall, bricks, block, concrete, dirt, stone, the list goes on and on and on.”
Klosterkemper says they will also not collect large quantities of recyclable materials.
The changes are in addition to the rules for non-collectible items that are already in place.
“The normal things, such as no tires, no batteries, no electronics, TVs or computers will always be in effect,” Klosterkemper said. “And then the one thing that’s most important is, because of the amount of manpower and equipment required that week, we do not collect any kind of yard waste, and we don’t pick up brush.”
Residents will receive reminders about the springtime heavy trash collection which will be printed on their April and May utility bills.
