Hazel Mae Gillam, 81, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025 in Greensburg. She was born on October 25, 1943 at home in Peppertown, Indiana as the daughter of John and Ruth (Gumm) McDaniel.
Mae worked at Indiana Lakes for many years. She retired from Margaret Mary Hospital as a housekeeper in 2009. She married Tim Gillam in 1963 and they spent 23 years together. Mae was a woman who loved unconditionally, a true matriarch whose warmth and generosity touched everyone around her. Family was at the heart of everything she did, and she found immense joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and siblings. Coming from a big family, she cherished every gathering, filling each moment with laughter and love. She had a passion for traveling, especially to and from Florida, where she created cherished memories. Playing cards, particularly rummy, was one of her favorite pastimes, and she never turned down a good thrifting adventure. Her famous potato salad was a staple at family events, made with care and always enjoyed by all. As a devoted sister, mother, and grandmother, she gave selflessly, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unforgettable memories.
She is survived by her children: Tim Gillam, Eric (Millan) Gillam, Jeff (Gabriela) Gillam, and Amy (Mario) Jackson; grandchildren: Cody, Casey, Michael, Ashley, Shaelynn, Alexander, Anthony, Lucas, Jalen, Tyra, Jocelyn and Javon; great grandchildren: Brooklyn and Kylen; siblings: Rosemary Kinnett, Jack McDaniel, Charlotte Moore, Gloria Comer, Robert McDaniel, Donna Miller, Sharron Collins, Trisha Vogel, and Paul McDaniel.
