Hazel Honnert, 83 of Milan passed away February 1, 2018 at Margaret Mary Health in Batesville. Hazel was born July 11, 1934 in Weisburg, Indiana the daughter of Howard and Lottie Jozella (Elam) Fassold. She married Sylvester Frank Honnert September 29, 1956 and he preceded her in death February 13, 1982. Hazel worked as a Nurse assistant for St. Francis at Oldenburg. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in New Alsace, Legion Auxiliary Post 452. She enjoyed her church, watching NASCAR, IU Basketball and the Cincinnati Reds, playing bingo and helping other people. She loved to spend time with her family and friends.
Hazel is survived by daughter: Sherry (Bill) Howrey of Plainfield, IN; sons: Bud (Monica) Honnert of West Harrison, IN; David (Beth) Honnert of Batesville; brothers: Roger (Glenna) Fassold of Sunman, Douglas Fassold of Greendale; sister: Dolores Fuchs of New Alsace. 7 Grandchildren; 6 Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded by her parents, husband, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Funeral Mass will be 11AM Thursday February 8, 2018 at All Saints Parish, St. Paul Campus in New Alsace (9788 N. Dearborn Road, Guilford, In. 47022) with Father Johnathan Meyer officiating. Burial will be follow in the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10-11AM Thursday February 8, 2018 also at the church. Memorials may be made to American Legion Post 452.
