(Ripley County, IN) – The Maurice and Mary Ann Hartman Endowment for Ripley County 4-H has been established at the Ripley County Community Foundation (RCCF).
The aim of the new endowment is to foster leadership skills in 4-H members.
Mary Ann Hartman established the endowment in memory of her husband Maurice, with the intention of offsetting the cost to Ripley County 4-H members to and attend leadership conferences and go on trips.
RCCF says the couple dedicated their lives to furthering 4-H’s mission to promote positive youth development, facilitate learning and engage youth in the work of their community through the Cooperative Extension Service to enhance the quality of life.
Maurice Hartman served 55 years as a Ripley County 4-H Leader. His accomplishments included contributing greatly to local agriculture through Doane’s research; serving on both the Ripley County Extension and 4-H boards for many years as well as the Area I P-Caret representative. He was also the Adams Township Farm Bureau Representative for 25 years.
“I created this fund to ensure that Maurice’s love and gratitude for 4-H would continue to be felt in Ripley County for generations. I hope that Maurice’s life-long generosity will inspire the many individuals who were once a member of his 4-H Club, to give back to their communities in a way that will leave the world a better place,” said Mary Ann Hartman.
