Harold Eugene “Gene” Brady, 79, of Patriot, IN, passed away Thursday, May 22nd, 2025 at St. Elizabeth Hospice Edgewood. Gene was born in Petersburg, KY on April 10, 1946, a son of the late Thelma (Sutton) Brady and Hubert Brady. He was a graduate of Patriot High School, Class of 1964. Gene served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. While in service Gene received Sharpshooter (M-14 Rifle) Badge, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal. Gene retired from Celanse Manufacturing in Florence, KY. He also formerly worked at Hilltop Basic Resources in Patriot, the Patriot Water Company and Schenley Distillery in Lawrenceburg. Gene was a longtime member of the Vevay VFW, the Rising Sun American Legion and an over 50 year member of the Belle River Masonic Lodge in Patriot. Gene always enjoyed having breakfast and hanging out with friends at the Rising Sun American Legion in the mornings. In his younger years Gene liked to fish and go hunting alongside his brother Joe with their black and tan coonhounds. He was also a NASCAR and Kentucky basketball fan. Gene was also talented at refinishing and making gun stocks. Gene was a kind and loving dad, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend to many and will be deeply missed.
Gene is survived by his daughter, Jean Ann Little and husband Keith, of Florence, IN; by his son, Steve Brady, of Warsaw, KY; by grandchildren: Kristopher Brady, Corey Gene Brady, Steven Eugene Brady, Jr., Brandon Little & Brittanie Little and by great grandchildren: Mason, Karson, Austin, Ashton, Arya, Camryn, Caraline, Charlotte and Ryder. Gene is also survived by his brother, Joe Brady, of Patriot, IN. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, by his wife, Rebecca Brady; by his infant son, Patrick Joseph Brady; by his great grandchild, Breyer Little; by his sister and brother-in-law, Ollie & Bill McCartney; and by his sister-in-law, Donna Brady.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Tuesday, May 27th, 2025 at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN with Pastor Mike Jones officiating. Visitation will be held 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Tuesday, May 27th at Markland Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will be at Concord Cemetery in Patriot, IN.
