Hannah E. Gearries, 89, of Elizabethtown<span “=”” arial”,sans-serif”=””> passed away Thursday, February 20, 2025 at her home. She was born in the Malotte neighborhood southwest of Versailles on May 11, 1935, the daughter of Sam and Alice Adams Perkins. Survivors include one daughter Brenda (Steven) Laisure and one son James K. Perkins both of Edinburg; three grandchildren Manny (Raphe) Perkins of Hope, Monica Perkins and her fiancée Troy Dilworth, and James Perkins both of Elizabethtown; two great-grandchildren Kindra Perkins and her fiancée Jerry Derringer of Seymour, and Jordan Perkins of Elizabethtown; one sister Ollie Brunner of Versailles. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Sam Perkins, Jr., and her sisters Naomi Adams and Mary Gay Perkins. Hannah was a former employee of the Stone Container Cardboard factory in Columbus. She enjoyed gardening, working in her flowers, and “working” in general as long as her health permitted. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 24 at 2 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Randy Thieman officiating. Entombment will be at the Grandview Memorial Garden in Madison. Visitation will also be on Monday beginning at 12 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Children’s Advocacy Center of Southeast Indiana in care of the funeral home.
