H.S. softball recaps from Thursday, April 7

The following are high school softball recaps from Thursday, April 7.  There may be updates, so please check back.

South Ripley posted a 12-0 victory in Versailles over Oldenburg.

For the Raiders, Brooklyn Brown had three hits with a triple and three RBI, Alexa Heidt had two hits and two ribbies while Cassie Franklin and Mady Tompkins both collected two singles and one RBI.  Tompkins pitched 2-2/3 with eight strikeouts and no hits.  Ellie Waldron slung the final 2-1/3 with four Ks, two hits and a run.

Southwestern Hanover won its first game of the season, 13-3 over New Washington.

For the Rebels, Trinity McClain had three hits and two RBI, Chloey Leach contributed two singles and a ribbie while Ashley Fulton hit a solo home run and earned the win in the circle.

Lawrenceburg’s Courtney Sauntry pitched a perfect game in a 10-0 final against Jac-Cen-Del.  Sauntry struck out 12 of the 15 batters she faced over five innings.  Teammate Ava Hall had her first home run of the year.

Batesville suffered a 4-3 loss to Greensburg.  Two Bulldog errors led to all four Pirate runs.  On the plus side, the BHS defense did turn two double plays.

Offensively for the Bulldogs, Calli Fletcher, Emma Belter and Sarah Ripperger all had two hits.  Belter doubled and had an RBI.  Ripperger’s hits included a triple and she also had a fine drop step catch in right center.  Katie Mobley had a solid outing in the circle allowing no earned runs, four hits and two walks with three strikeouts.

The Batesville JV won 14-2.  Natasha Fowler, Katie Mobley and Sophie Meyers all had two hits.  Kennedy Westrick was the winning pitcher with a couple of strikeouts.

North Decatur crushed Morristown 19-0.  Keesha Crosland and Sarah Swain combined on the shutout in the circle.  The Chargers Kayln Muckerhide drove in seven runs on three hits which included a grand slam home run.  Bobbi-Jean Trask and Kacie Ogden also had multiple hits.

Franklin County hammered Richmond 25-1 in Brookville.  The Wildcats scored nine runs in both the first and third innings and had 29 hits in just four turns at the plate.

Among the hits, Josie Rolfes, Anne Becker and KK Ferman each homered.  Kensee Ferman had a four-hit day.  Kiersten Schell and Rolfes both booked three.  Annie Hoff, Bella Lee, Emma Stadtmiller, Kassidy Schell, Bailey Kaiser, Brooke Stang and Maci Lake all had two.  Top RBI producers were Kensee and KK Ferman with four each, Kaiser with three along with Rolfes, Lake and Becker with two apiece.

Pitchers KK Ferman and Lee gave up only three hits total over five innings.

The Wildcat JV also won big beating the Red Devils 15-3.  The Brookville reserves scored 11 times in the third inning and had 15 hits for the contest.

Pitcher Kendal Cain gave up three unearned runs on only two hits and struck out 10.  At the plate, she singled and double with three RBI.  Olivia Bennett and Hope Gardner also batted in three runs. Bennett had three hits.  Gardner had two. And Madison Middendorf collected two hits and two RBI.
