H.S. softball recaps from Saturday, April 23

The following are high school softball recaps from Saturday, April 23.  All are varsity events unless noted otherwise.  There may be updates, so please check back.

South Ripley was a 16-2 winner in six innings at Southwestern Hanover.

For the Raiders, Ellie Waldron had four hits with a double and three RBI.  Olivia Kavanaugh also posted four hits with a two bagger.  Brooklyn Brown and Mady Tompkins both collected three hits.  Brown doubled twice and drove in three runs.  Tompkins plated two.  Alexa Heidt had a pair of two base hits while Emily Campbell and Cassie Franklin picked up a couple of ribbies each.

Tompkins tossed five innings for the win striking out eight and walking two.  Waldron retired the side in the sixth with three Ks.

Southwestern’s two runs came on a home run by Ashley Fulton.

North Decatur held off Rushville 11-8.

The Chargers Kennedy Stier had a trio of hits plus an RBI.  Kacie Ogden and Kayln Muckerhide both had two singles.  Muckerhide batted in three.  Macy Scudder doubled with a team-high four RBI.

For the Lions, Belle Gossett, Layla Shepherdson and Rochelle Meyers all notched a couple of hits.

The Franklin County C-team pounded Indy Arsenal Tech 31-2.

Haisley Helms had three hits and two RBI.  Lacy Isaacs singled and doubled with five ribbies.  Tatum Beesley and Madison Middendorf both had a pair of singles and combined to drive in five.  Lillie Graf tripled with four RBI.

Issacs and Middendorf split the pitching duties and, collectively, fanned 10.

South Dearborn traveled to Liberty and lost to Union County 1-0 in nine innings.

Kyra Labozo pitched eight innings for SD in a no decision with no runs, 12 strikeouts and five walks.  Teammate Lakota Vincent had two of the team’s four hits, one of which was a double.
