H.S. baseball recaps from Monday, May 9

The following are high school baseball recaps from Monday, May 9.  All games are varsity unless noted otherwise.  There may be updates, so please check back.

Batesville’s Jack Grunkemeyer threw a one-hit shutout as the Bulldogs blanked Rushville 14-0.  Grunkemeyer struck out 10 and walked one.  A fourth inning single by the Lions Bryce Berkemeier broke up the no hitter.

For Batesville head coach, Justin Tucker, it was his 100th victory.

Helping him reach the century mark on the offensive side were Grunkmeyer, Zach Wade and Will Meer who all had two hits. Grunkmeyer drove in three runs. Wade batted in two.  Jacob Meer homered with two RBI.  BHS is now 10-0 in the EIAC.

South Dearborn got by Connersville 1-0.

Ryan Willoughby singled and doubled and drove in the game’s only run in the bottom of the first.  He also pitched the seventh inning with two strikeouts to get the save. Brother Reese Willoughby fanned 10 and gave up just two hits over six innings for the win.  Teammate Drew Probst had two hits.

Gavin Pearson pitched a complete game in a tough loss for CHS.

Jac-Cen-Del defeated South Ripley 13-3.  Both teams had only three hits.  The Eagles took advantage of Raider pitching which surrendered 12 walks.

Jac’s Austin Bowling drove in three runs, Gavin Groth plated two and Kameron Darnold had one RBI.  Each player had a hit.

The Raiders Brayden Dilk doubled and scored twice.  Landon Adams had a single and the team’s only ribbie.

North Decatur was a 3-0 winner over Waldron.  Brayden Hancock tossed a four-hit shutout with nine strikeouts.

Tyler Field, Nolan Burkhart and Reid Messer all had two hits for ND.  Burkhart batted in three runs.  Xander Jones doubled and drove in three.

Southwestern beat Shawe 9-4.  The Rebels continue to lead the ORVC by one game in the loss column over Switzerland County.

The Hanover boys got a single, triple and three RBI from Zach Cole.  William Stockdale, Jordan DeAtley, Gage Ponder and Jamison Lewis all batted in a run.

For the Hilltoppers, Hunter Kennett and Philip Kahn both singled and doubled.  Kennett plated two runs.  Kahn had one RBI.

The Batesville JV topped Triton Central 11-1.

The Bulldogs Jackson Tracy struck out 10 Tigers over four innings.  Sam Weigel, Carter Bohman and Carson Schneider all had multi-hit games.

Franklin County edged Lawrenceburg 1-0.

For the Wildcats, Brandt Ertel knocked in Trevor Moizuk for the game’s only run.  Eli Butt got the start and pitched 5-1/3 innings but left with a no decision as the game was still scoreless.  Hunter Geis tossed the final 1-2/3 and got the win in relief.
