H.S. softball recaps from Monday, May 9; Raiders Tompkins pitch perfect

The following are high school softball recaps from Monday, May 9.  All games are varsity unless noted otherwise.  There may be updates, so please check back.

South Ripley’s Mady Tompkins pitched a perfect game in a 17-0 shutout at Jac-Cen-Del.  Tompkins struck out 17 of the 18 batters she faced over six innings.

Offensively for the Raiders, Tompkins, Ellie Waldron and Emily Campbell all had three hits. Alexa Heidt and Julia Hilton both had two.  Tompkins batted in three runs.  Waldron, Campbell and Morgan Meyer knocked in two each.

In two big EIAC games, Connersville swept East Central in a double header.  The victories give the Spartans control of the conference and keep them unbeaten with only two EIAC games left.  The divisional losses for EC were their first two of the season.

In game one, CHS fought off a late rally by the St. Leon ladies to win 7-6.

For the Fayette County crew, Rayleigh Bresher doubled and homered with five RBI, Baylie Spurlock singled and doubled and Paige Dunaway went deep and drove in two.

For East Central, Brynn Wilhelm plated four of the team’s runs on a dinger and a two bagger.  Anna Black singled and doubled with one RBI.

Game two also went to the Sparties 5-1.

Spurlock and Bresher both led the way with three hits and a ribbie each.  Sara Ruble had a pair of hits including a double.  Kindred Conley struck out six and notched the complete game victory.

The Trojans were limited to just three hits.  Jordan Maurer’s was a double.

North Decatur lost 10-0 to Eastern Hancock.  The Royals Madison Stephens and Tatem Adams combined on a one-hitter with eight strikeouts.

Kennedy Stier had the only ND base hit.

Franklin County swept Lawrenceburg in a double header.  The Wildcats finished off a suspended game one, 16-5, after scoring eight runs in the first on Thursday.

Maci Lake and Brooke Stang combined for three singles, five doubles and eight RBI.  Josie Rolfes had three hits and a ribbie.  Bree Bishoff batted in two on a single and a double while Anne Becker had two hits and plated a run.

Ava Hall, Aubrie Hutcherson and Meghan Heinsman all had two hits for the Tigers.  Hall homered and picked up two RBI.

FC took the second game 11-1.

Wildcat KK Ferman allowed just two hits and struck out nine.  At the plate, she doubled, homered and drove in three.  Kensee Ferman batted in three on two hits.  Bailey Kaiser had two singles and a ribbie while Stang singled and doubled.

Courtney Sauntry drove in the only LHS run.
