Pirates senior Cy Miller continues his senior year campaign by becoming the school’s all-time leader in points on Wednesday against Franklin County. Greensburg went back and forth with the Wildcats in the first half, still leading 4-2. After that, they never looked back, winning the game 10-4 to cap off a historic night. (Full recap is below.)
After Franklin County got the scoring started in the game’s first 10 minutes, Greensburg responded with two goals from Jacoby Miller (assists from Cy Miller and Ethan Smith). After another Franklin County goal drew the game even at 2-2, Ethan Smith assisted Cy Miller for his record-breaking goal. Smith then scored a goal of his own off of a Wyatt Yake assist from a corner kick. With a halftime score of 4-2, Greensburg came out in the second half, again conceding first, but took control the rest of the half with two more goals from Jacoby Miller, three goals from Cy Miller, and one goal from John Robbins pushing the final score to 10-4.
Cy Miller passed Tyler Burcham to become the all-time leader in points at 142! Cy now holds the boys soccer career records for total points, goals, and hat tricks. Robbins also made history with his two assists, becoming only the second player in Greensburg history to have 20+ career goals and 20+ career assists, joining Burcham. The win moves the Pirates to 7-3 (2-0 EIAC), which is the program’s best start through 10 games since 2011.
The Pirates are back on the pitch Saturday in the annual Battle of the Ball contest against Rushville. The Pirates travel to take on the Lions at noon.
