(Indianapolis, IN) – The City of Greensburg is one of four communities across the state to receive an Owner-Occupied Rehabilitation (OOR) grant.
Lt. Gov. Micah Beckwith’s office and the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs say a total of $1.55 million in funds will be used statewide to empower communities to allow low-to-moderate income homeowners to make needed repairs to their dwellings.
Greensburg was awarded $350-thousand.
“These grants are about more than just fixing homes — they’re about strengthening communities,” Lt. Gov. Beckwith said. “When we take care of the small things, like repairing roofs or upgrading heating systems, we’re sending a message that every home and every family matters. This approach helps prevent larger issues down the road and fosters pride and stability in our neighborhoods. By empowering homeowners to make these repairs, we’re investing in the future of Indiana and preserving the values that make our state great.”
Communities awarded an OOR grant will establish a program to help fund low- and moderate-income homeowners make repairs on their homes. Eligible repairs include roof repair or replacement, ADA accessibility, heating and cooling replacement, lighting and electrical upgrades, and water heater replacement.
Also receiving grants were the cities of Franklin and Union City ($350-thousand each) and Huntington County ($500-thousand).
“The Owner Occupied Rehabilitation grant program can be crucial for homeowners who may need extra support from their community in order to make needed improvements to maintain their safety in their home,” said OCRA Executive Director Fred Glynn. “Congratulations to these four communities and thank you for seeking out this funding opportunities to better your community and the quality of life for your residents.”
Funding for OCRA’s Community Development Block Grant programs, including OOR, originates from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s CDBG program and is administered for the State of Indiana by OCRA.
