Greensburg Middle School Cross Country Finds Success at Ceraland

The Greensburg Junior High Cross Country Teams traveled to Ceraland Saturday morning to compete in an Invitational hosted by Columbus North. The Lady Pirates were crowned the 2024 Rick Weinheimer Classic Invite Champions out of 19 complete girls teams. The Greensburg gents placed 10th out of 22 boys teams.

The Girls Team were able to solidify their Championship and beat out the Highland Hills Jaguars at the finish as the top 4 Lady Pirates scored in the top 7 spots at the finish line. Madeline Risher led the ladies with a 3rd place finish out of 234 total girls. Joining Risher as medalists included 4th Eleanor Davis, 5th Maria Scholle, and 7th Lulu Webb. Hadley Davis was a ribbon award winner by finishing in 34th place. All the Lady Pirates were very competitive and ran great times at Ceraland Park. Lulu Webb broke 12 minutes for the first time and improved her career best by 12 seconds. Annalise broke 14 minutes for the first time and qualified for state by breaking her previous best by 20 seconds. Noelle Kern  improved her season best time by shedding nearly a minute. Jackson Tekulve was the first Greensburg Boy to cross the finish line. Tekulve placed 21st out of 276 total competitors earning him the top ribbon award and missing a medal by just a tenth of a second. Jack Gindling also received a trip to the award podium by earning 30th with a 10 second PR. All the boys ran great times with sixth graders Jack Gindling and Miles Gill both setting new career records. The Pirates will compete again on Tuesday in Brookville against East Central and Franklin County.
