Greensburg, IN—Greensburg Community High School is excited to announce their Fall evening Chautauqua event today at 7:00 PM at Greensburg Community High School’s Goddard Auditorium.

Our featured show this year is Mac Arnold & Plate Full O’ Blues. Mac Arnold is an American Blues musician from South Carolina.  He assembles his own band and has worked with legends such as Muddy Watters, B.B. King, James Brown, and Jimi Hendrix.

Ticket prices are Mezzanine-$5, Upper Main Section-$10, and Lower Main Section-$15.

The Chautauqua program was founded in 2003 by John Pratt. Pratt, then a social studies teacher at North Decatur High School, realized that in the changing world of education, there was a void in inspiration. He wanted to show his students that greatness can happen everywhere, even in small cities like Greensburg, Indiana. Thus was born Chautauqua, a celebration of diversity and a way to access the innate greatness that is within us all.

Pratt hosted nine Chautauqua events at North Decatur High School before he accepted a position at his alma mater, Greensburg Community High School. This has allowed the Chautauqua program to grow even more due to the size of the school, its resources, and its auditorium. Currently, it a semi-annual event hosted in the fall and spring. The Greensburg Community High School Chautauqua has hosted numerous national and international talents including guests from all over the world.  Donators both locally and organizations like the Indiana Arts Commission have allowed the program to grow to what it is today.  Chautauqua is currently in its sixteenth year of existence in Decatur County, and its seventh year at Greensburg Community High School.

Day time programs include Kerry Kennedy, daughter of Senator Robert Kennedy, who will be in Greensburg at 8 a.m. at Greensburg Community High School.

The day will also feature guests Lee Lonzo from Champions Together from 9:31-10:15 a.m.; the last prison guard to leave Alcatraz, Jim Albright, from 10:15-11:13 a.m.; and Iranian hostage survivor Kevin Hermening at 11:55 a.m all on Thursday.

On Friday, Nov. 15, from 9:31 a.m.-10:30 a.m. childhood actress, author and speaker Martha Nix Wade will be speaking. Closing out fall Chautauqua speakers will be Blake-Anthony Johnson of the Louisville Symphony Orchestra from 10:30 a.m.-11:13 a.m.
