Senior Genevieve Smith scored her second consecutive hat trick in as many games in girls soccer’s 5-0 road win against Rising Sun Tuesday night. Sophomore Kadence Rich chipped in two goals of her own. Both players assisted on each other’s goals while senior Madisyn Morlan added an assist. Junior goalkeeper Madeline Shrader turned away all six shots she faced. The Pirates have allowed one goal through two games thanks in part to the defense of Emma McQueen, Jailyn Thorton, Lilly Acra, and Rachel Lipps. The Pirates (2-0) are back on the pitch Saturday at Union County as part of a boys/girls doubleheader. The girls game kicks off at noon.
