Greensburg Girls Basketball Defeats Columbus East

The Greensburg girls basketball team continued their strong defensive effort to start the 2023-24 season in a 68-31 win on the road at Columbus East Thursday night. The Pirates held the Olympians to just 22% shooting from the floor and 18% shooting from behind the three-point arc. Leah West led the way for the Pirates with a double-double, scoring 19 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Carlee Adams scored 18 points. Claire Larrison scored 16 points with nine rebounds. Aly Powers scored 12 points. The Class 3A fifth-ranked Pirates (11-2, 4-0 EIAC) are now off for Christmas. They’ll return to action next week in the Plainfield Winter Classic. The Pirates will open the holiday tournament against Class 4A No. 13 Zionsville at noon on Friday, Dec. 29.
