GREENSBURG, IN — Greensburg City Council took another step Tuesday night toward the proposed fire station construction project, by approving GM Development of Springport as the developer and Meyer Najem of Fishers as the construction manager.
“We will have access to hopefully land to start testing and making some of those phases as we work towards a guaranteed maximum price, or basically a budget of what of the station will cost,” said Fire Chief Nathan Stoermer. “So we have kind of come to the ‘final’ of everything has been approved to do everything we can before we get into the big decision.
“I’m very pleased with the forward progress,” Stoermer added. “I thank the Council and Board of Works for all of their support for this project, and for working with them on that, and I look forward to moving it even more forward.”
Council also approved land purchase agreements for both the proposed fire station and public works building – with the contingency that bonds are approved and City Council officially signs off on the deal.
Plans call for the fire station and public works building to be located on the same property.
