(Greensburg, IN) – The Greensburg Fire Department announced promotions and handed out awards at the 2024 Recognition Ceremony which was held this week at City Hall.
Lt. Ron Reynolds was promoted to assistant chief, effective in 2025.
Promotions to First Class Firefighter for Caleb Stevens, Trent Campbell, Walker Gabbard, John Hammersmith, Ethan Ripberger and Ethan Steele were recognized. Promotions of probationary firefighters to First Class firefighters are effective on their one-year anniversary date.
Reynolds was also named Firefighter of the Year. The award is given to a firefighter nominated by his colleagues as a team member who demonstrates leadership and mentorship within the department.
Reynolds, Lt. Jarrod Prentice, and firefighters John Hammersmith and Caleb Stevens were presented the Life Saving Award, which was given to firefighters who worked an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest episode with a successful outcome in the last year.
“We are here tonight to celebrate the hard work and dedication of our membership over the past year while giving thanks to their families as well as they share them with us,” said Greensburg Fire Chief Nathan Stoermer.
“I am continually proud of our team and the dedication our public safety shows to our community,” said Mayor Joshua Marsh. “These men have dedicated their lives to saving others and keeping our community safe, and I am proud to continue supporting their good work. Congratulations to all who received an award, and those who were promoted within the department.”
